Thank you for your reply. Let me start by saying the question I asked was not well written, and when I read it this morning I realized that.

When you suggest I was referring screen recording software I agree that the term “high quality” would not come to mind. It is because of that I haven’t even bothered trying Camtasia or other such utilities.

But the BM HD Extreme card method I’m asking about should deliver high quality results. It does a fantastic job of capturing from, and printing to HD decks and produces a razor sharp image when used as a preview device. I’m simply asking if there’s a way to deliver the 1080 Vegas preview image directly to the BM Media Express hard disk recorder.

A client of mine wants to capture the closed caption preview that appears on my NLE monitor and use it to create an open caption version. Short of putting a camera in front of a monitor, I can’t think of a simple way to do this. All because closed captions are typically generated in the monitor itself.

I’ve considered using two PCs, each with BM decklink cards, connecting the HDMI output of the first into the HDMI input of the second. But the HDCP would prohibit that. So, there’s the problem. The ability to display a high quality, full frame rate video signal, and no way to record it.

Vegas doesn’t care if your music is copyrighted. And if it did care, and you paid the fees, how would it know?

Not sure if there is an easier way to go about retrieving the WFM scope, but this is how I would do it today if it were to disappear again.

View> windows layout > default layout.

then..

View> video scopes.

After you’ve found everything, you can move windows around by locating the dotted icon in the upper left hand corner of each window, left-click and hold, and drag to new location.

finally found time to look into the DirectX issue you mentioned. I have directX 11 and understand that to the the latest version. So the problem still persists, and now I need to revisit the edit and again can’t get that ProRes to import into Vegas 11.

Any other ideas?

I pretty sure the issue you ran into had to do with standard definition 486 lines opposed to 480 lines. Most DV, DVCam and possibily, DVCPro tapes don’t support 486 lines and therefor line 21 would be missing.

I’ve been there and worked my way through it.

And finally, this morning the file again would not import, and no trickery would work this time to get the proRes mov onto my timeline.

The one time it did work was a fluke. And once it was on the timeline Vegas performed flawlessly.
