Hi there
After the 100 it goes like this:
B= Factory version of the camera (used to be A now B)
P= NTSC if it was PAL it would be E
S= Special added in the USA to signify a package consisting of:
The camera as supplied from Japan and an addition of something else, usually software that is added in locally. -
You are quite correct when the case is a simple standard SD card, there is a fair chance of recovery. However P2 is actually four SD cards connected together with a small interface card between them.
Because of this when you format the card it uses “full zeroing format”
that is 100% format. You can see from Flashfixers Q&A that they also cannot recover from such a format.
Never the less I suppose that if the material is so valuable it is maybe worth the money to let them try. -
Hi there,
Unfortunately you are dealing with flash technology, not
conventional hard disk storage. There is nothing to recover,
I’m sorry to say it’s gone for good. -

July 15, 2007 at 5:03 am in reply to: Camera Settings – Are you able to view in VTR ?Unfortunately the only data that is recorded in DV without your knowing it is time and date. This you can display or switch off during playback. There is no recorded data on the mode you shot in. Time to change to P2!!!

I assume you have a DVX100B – Unfortunately the bridge is not a spare part and you need to replace the whole handle. The part no is VKH0425,
but beware this is only the bare metal handle. You would have to dismantle all the small parts inside the old handle (zoom control, s/s button, microphone) and install it on the new piece. -
You are correct about the screws. The newest versions of Pro tape do not have screws, and the body is sealed. In fact the only model left with screws is the AMQ top of the line. To the problem- It is possible with a small drill bit to drill out the holes where the screws should be. If you do this carefully enough you will be able to open the case and then transfer the spools to a new case. The problem is with the locking mechanism of the spools, not the spools themselves.

There is no way you can actually stop the manual focus from working, when you switch the switch to manual. So if it doesn’t work chances are very good the optical sensor that sees the manual focus ring turning is broken. This is not a very expensive repair, and very easy to do. You would need to have the “manual focus unit” replaced.

check if you are logged on to windows as an administrator.
The viewer only works properly with full administrator rights. -
Basically you can think of the 500 as an HVX200 on your shoulder,
with added advantages of full 4ch audio and SDI outputs as standard.
The 2000 has a much higher grade CCD with 1mega pixel and also has
the option of adding the new AVC compression codec.(hence the price diffrence) -
Always rememeber the quickest way to tell if your clips are ok ar not,
is to play them back through the camera, and watch them on the LCD.
If they look ok there, and are playable then you are safe!
