Dennis – how does the latest version of PPro 5.5 or 6 get along with Cineform? The feature I cut in PPro was years ago using the Cineform Prospect add-on for Premiere. It was an okay workflow at best. Would love to cut my next feature using the highest quality Cineform transcodes but Vegas Pro now having all kinds of problems with Cineform. Yes I would use Premiere if it works well with Cineform…

I’ll just say this about Lightworks – if Apple had released Lightworks as the new FCPX, 90% of the FCP 7 users would have sold every Apple product they owned and be working on Windows 7 machines right now. It’s garbage, I don’t care who is using it.

Lightworks??? Yikes, have you tried it? It’s horrible! Don’t know how it can be any better on Mac? I swear to use nothing but FCPX for the rest of my life before using that turd.

Yes I know it’s a fact, my good friend is the past head of Vegas and I’ve been on the beta team(and even the alpha team on several versions) since version 2. I’ve been a VIP at past NAB parties and the last couple had closer to 600 Vegas fans of which I’m a HUGE one.
The occupy thing is just a joke guys. The goal here is that the kinks get worked out of Vegas and everyone is happy again using the program. I was in Israel this past Fall cutting an animated feature (on another NLE) and my Post Sup. comes in one morning, knowing I’m a huge Vegas guy, and says a friend of his in the biz just got Vegas 11 and he said it crashed so many times he couldn’t use it. I was embarrassed because I had recommended the program. This was never the case in past years and must be remedied!

LOL! I almost used the “occupy” thing. And I agree with Angelo – it is a great NLE! I’ve used it on everything from promo’s to feature films and love it, but it’s become completely unusable for me. I’m hoping someone from Sony is listening and they can right the ship soon…

Version 1.03 software is still going to be buggy, no-one gets software right that quickly, despite what other manufacturers might say. How long did it take FCP to be usable for most people?
Yeah we need to stop this whole “it’s version 1, give Apple a break” argument. Apple named it version 10! They’ve had a lot of years to work on this and get it right. If they want to be revolutionary then X should have been better in EVERY way than previous versions! This has been there M.O. for every product line they have, new versions are better, faster etc. than previous just like the new iPad.
No more free lunch Apple…

There’s been a new Vegas team at Sony for the past few revs. Either they don’t know what they’re doing, just don’t care or both. For whatever reason they refuse to fix the problems and instead keep changing features that didn’t need changing! They seem to think that by offering “cool” new features for the marketing guys the existing problems will go away. My favorite response is always “can’t replicate the problem here, can you give us your system details?” The standard answer for every issue.. and it’s always the end users fault.
I’ve been using Vegas for 12 years now and the problems through every version of 10 and now 11 have gotten worse and worse with no help or solutions from Sony. WTF!?! I love that they’re still gonna have their big party at NAB… I hope there’s a bit of a protest movement from the crowd, maybe the higher ups will see how bad things really are. I didn’t even register for the event this year, it’s an embarrassing time to be a Vegas user right now…

It’s not about how many tracks you can have on the timeline – it’s how many you can HEAR at one time. Avid has never improved beyond 16 mono or 8 stereo tracks that can be monitored at any one time (yes they’ve added 5.1 and 7.1 in 6 but no increase in track count). I was really hoping this limit would go away in MC 6 but it hasn’t yet.
