You probably have some slug after your show – press Sift-Z to show entire project and see if you can select the blank area or if there is a stray clip or slug down the timeline? Select it and delete it then press Shift-Z again…

Audio is MUCH improved and you can now have mono and stereo tracks without the goofy separation of earlier versions. Mixer is new and much like Audition though I didn’t get to try sending mix to Audition yet.

Got to play with a little at NAB and liked it enough to happily pre-order the CS6 Cloud subscription! Can’t wait…

This is the dilemma – stay Mac and always be relegated to sub-standard graphics cards, especially those from ATI. Or go Windows with CS6 and be able to use these incredible cards. The added benefit with Premiere and Mercury is because so much work can be off-loaded to graphics card there is not the constant need to upgrade workstations – just swap out graphics cards once a year and your good!

Agreed – CS6 will be the big test – it’s a completely new beast and looks like Adobe finally is listening to “pro” users but it will take some time to see if it really works in the daily grind of broadcast delivery etc.

Well while hopefully I’ll never have to fire up an Avid again – I may use FCPX for future project for exactly the same reason 4k 444 ProRes. We’ll see how CS6 handles it but happy either way…

Can’t wait til May 7. Now to decided whether to run Mac or PC?

  • Yeah I would have never brought back the nVidia card. The issue is Vegas, not your hardware. The only codec that I have found to perform well on multiple systems is Sony XDCAM and XDCAM 422. On my last DSLR feature we actually did all audio synching on Vegas timeline then exported the takes into XDCAM 422 files which ran well during the edit.

The only NLE I have seen that can truly handle myriad of camera native codecs is Premiere CS5.5 or CS6. With you GTX570 you could fly through clips with no slow downs on your current system.

I always rasterize my type in before sending layered .psd’s anywhere – the last thing i want is someone subbing a font. Since my PC runs PS faster than my Mac I always create all my graphics there and send them to Mac with no problems.

And like everyone has said most fonts are cross-platform these days unlike the old print/postscript days of the 90s.
