    Hi David,

This is an other way to do the trick using Volume Builder as in the video below, hope this will help you.

  • In the tutorial you are talking about I think they used the cloth built tool, also do you want to connect the surface with the character at specific snap points as is the case with the cape or do you want to connect all the points, if the first then it should work for you and there is a feature to control the gap in the cloth built but if the second (this is what I understood from your previous post) then I have never seen the built tool using in this way so I am not sure of its succes, rather than that if you want to achieve that using surface deformer I think you will face the problem of making the character behaving like a cloth.

  • Hi Eric,

it’s supposed that you could place an image on any surface, even if it’s animated, by using the image in a material, then controlling the projection. Other methods are used for 3D images, such as 3D letters or logos in Spline.

  • As for the updates, it is recommended that work on a project in one version and don’t move to another version unless there is a good reason. I rule out that the update is the reason for the difference between the viewport and render, but is likely the reason of change in the light intensity.I don’t think we should rush to update to the latest version until we look at the aspects that has affected (You will find that on the Maxon website) and also wait for users’ opinions. The update often has problems, and this is common in various programs. If there is no need, l think it is better to stay on one version and settle with it for a while. I am working on 2024, it is good, and I have not encountered any problems (except for the problems that I caused, of course!) I have also heard many people praising 2025. I hope this is helpful for you.

  • Hi Josh,

There might be a difference between the viewport and the render, as if you were using a 360° or parallel camera, and that doesn’t mean there is a problem, but the strange thing is that the static frame render is different from the animation render. The reason might be the difference in the frame per second (FPS) between the project setting and the output setting, or that the scene has some tools that have editor vs render setting, so you should make the same value in both options (ex: Editor 2, Render 2) to ensure the result is identical between the render and the viewport. I hope this is helpful to you.

    Hi Josh,

The Take System is very useful for organizing tasks that include options, but I stopped using it even before these malfunctions appeared in the last days, which increased after users updated to 2024 Release, because if you want to modify anything in the structure you built on the Take System (and it may have taken a long time from you) that will be the beginning of hard time, so you must consider all possible changes from the beginning (and this not always possible) to ensure that the system works without problems. I don’t know if the problems started with you after updating to 2024 or after you tried to modify certain override in the Take System, but it is certain that there is something wrong. What is strange is that the most famous training studios ignore the matter. I do not know if they are managing their affairs in some way or facing the same problems and they don’t have solutions. I suggest that you contact Maxon support to confirm. They published an update four days ago that included fixes related to the Take System. I have placed the link below for you to check it.

The video is a bit long, but as you can see it does the trick although you may need some extra work, I hope this helps you at least temporarily because I have another idea in mind that depends on making the cut without the bool tool but I haven’t tried it yet, however please let me know if this method works for you.

Thanks for the clarification! it depends on the nature of the workflow. I think you could copy the bool object, make it editable, and then transfer the pose morph to it, even if it maybe requires reconfiguration of some settings. The complexity of the workflow might make that difficult, but you can bypass this by using the Store Selection tool to save the points or polygons controlled by the pose morph and then transfer that to the new mesh. I will make a screen recording for you that shows all of this once I get my pc.

You’re welcome David! Honestly I can’t see the difference between what I did and what you’re looking for, but no problem, I hope you could attach a file, screenshot or screen recording so I can check it and do my best to help you.
