Hi Tim,
Media 100 > Project Settings > Codecs
Make sure the render codec is the same as the one you created the media in (8 bit uncompressed in your case).

Hi Tim,
Are your render settings the same as the media (8 bit uncompressed)? Strange things happen when they aren’t.

Hi Tim,
Are you working in non-drop frame or drop frame timecode? My guess, as it is a gradual sync drift, is that it went into AE as one, and came back out the other.

Hi Gregory
This sounds like a colourspace issue. FCP works with RGB levels in the range 0-255, whereas some systems use 16-235. Try applying a levels adjustment in Flame to bring the incoming file into the 16-235 range and see if it matches the digitised footage.
You may also need a gamma adjustment to go from 1.8 to 2.2 gamma. Try an adjustment of 1.2 (or 0.8 if 1.2 makes it darker!)

Hi Jim,
I’ve posted about this several times before. On my HDe audio levels are about 4db higher than they should be. This happens on the XLR analogue outputs and on my Firewire out – I have yet to have an opportunity to test the SDI levels.
It’s not a hardware issue as my FCP install’s levels (through the same hardware) are bang on the money.
If you export out an AIFF of tone at 0db (from Media 100’s level meters) opening that file in Soundtrack Pro reveals the levels to be at +4db, so the problem (I think) is in Media 100 itself. The similarity of the +4db level boost and the old audio option of +4db output in preferences makes me think that the new hardware already outputs at the correct level and Media 100 is boosting the signal like it needed to on the Vincent & HDX hardware – but that’s just me speculating.
I’m glad that someone else is seeing the same issue I am though! My work-around is to lower the Master Bus audio level to -4db on the time-line before mixing audio (using my outboard PPMs), that gives a consistent signal level to tape and to files for DVD etc.

Hi Matthew,
[matthew zabel] “Does this intel codec help us 11.5 media 100 producer software folks? if I download one of the free codecs, is it the same as the intel 11.6 upgrade before 12.1? If not, I should think that would be given out for free too, to stay on par with the other media 100 products. Just wondering.”
I’m not really sure I get what you mean, but the codec plays Media 100 media no matter when or how it was created. The two versions are simply the one for PowerPC computers and the other for Intel ones.

Hi Floh,
The CTI still jumps back on my system with that method, though that’s no biggie. Your way cures the duration issue, so for that I’m greatful.
Thanks again

Hi Thom,
You want the Intel Media 100 codecs (the ones that have just become free) to run on the mac mini rather than the legacy codecs. In this instance legacy refers to the processor running the codec (i.e. PowerPC) rather than the machine that generated the media.

Hi David,
May I be first to say thank you for this decision. It will greatly help the integration of Media 100 into new and existing workflows so we can share our productivity with the world!
