November 18, 2008 at 3:40 pm in reply to: linking effects ?

And just to add to Paul’s post. I’ve recently taken up the habit of making an “effect control” subcomp. It works well for me because I am often working on campaigns that involve many Master comps in one project. So I make an effect control comp and keep my expression control layers there. If I need to change the color of a certain asset throughout my entire project, I can do so with the change of one value. Very time saving.

Works like a charm Dan. Thanks so much. I just had to teak the first line a little to get it where I wanted it.

Out of curiosity, how does the last line of your script work? That is the only part that I can’t get my head around completely.

Thanks for everything you do here Dan!

  • Well, I have figured out #2 and #3 from my initial post, but I am still stuck on #1. I think I now want the floating solids to increase in scale when it is nearest the camera. The idea is that is is being temporarily selected and therefore is larger. Any ideas on how to achieve this? It’s beyond my current scripting ability.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

or there are film burn effects out there. Boris has one, but you’d have to buy the whole package.

July 11, 2008 at 4:47 pm in reply to: aligning keyframes over multiple layers

    Thanks Dave,

Yeah, shift-dragging is what I am doing right now. It’s just that I’m doing it to allign keyframes that are spanning 60 layers. And I have about 30 instances of keyframes that need aligning. So I was hoping I could just drag and select a bunch of keyframes, hit the magic button and they all line up. I just can’t find the magic button. I even checked the bottom of my keyboard. Not there either.

July 3, 2008 at 2:37 pm in reply to: Overshooting in Text animation

Well I figured it out after viewing Aharon Rabinowitz’s Tutorials on Text Animators. Seems a little complex for something I thought would be simple, but I learned a lot figuring it out.

Here is the animation preset if anybody wants it.

June 10, 2008 at 3:03 am in reply to: What to do with old equipment?

I just took in a bunch of old but “useful to someone” equipment to an Ebay store here in town. They take quite a cut, but I didn’t mind. I don’t have time to deal with keeping track of my auctions and shipping and all that stuff, so it was perfect. I live in Omaha, so if we have a shop like this, I’m sure a bigger market would have one.
