linking effects ?
Let’s say I do have an HUE effect on one of my layers.
And let’s say, I would like add the same effect on 5 other layers.
I can simple copy and paste..but if I want to change later the HUE, I would love to change that just on one layer, and all other 5 layers will have the same change.
How to do that ?

This can be done with expressions enabled and using the pickwhip tool.
• Make sure the hue controls are visible in the timeline.
• Pick which layer you want to be your master layer. On all your other layers, option/alt click on the add keyframe button. This will turn on expressions.
• Using the pickwhip tool that appears (the little button with a swirl on it), click and drag to the “master” hue control.Now, whenever you change that one, anything linked to it will also change.

And just to add to Paul’s post. I’ve recently taken up the habit of making an “effect control” subcomp. It works well for me because I am often working on campaigns that involve many Master comps in one project. So I make an effect control comp and keep my expression control layers there. If I need to change the color of a certain asset throughout my entire project, I can do so with the change of one value. Very time saving.
