Thunderbolt drives do make a big difference. RAIDs make a big difference over a single drive too. Go for a Thunderbolt RAID. RAID 5 for both speed and redundancy.

Hey Andy,
I’m currently using a BlackMagic Ultrastudio express. Use it with both FCP X and PrPro CC2017. Am using a two year old driver for it though as BM’s latest drivers didn’t work as well. I’ve used a AJA IO HD and Matrox MXO2 ages ago. AJA are pretty good in releasing stable drivers. But generally more expensive than BM. Matrox comes somewhere in between. I’ve had my worst experience with Matrox. I switched to BM for two reasons. That’s the only option if you’re going to use Resolve. And secondly, the cost.

Hey Alex,
Go with RAID 5. You lose the capacity of one drive. But you still get good speed and redundancy. That is, even if you lose one drive, you don’t lose any data. It is automatically rebuilt.
I’ve been using Promise Pegasus R4 a 4 bay RAID 5 array for years now. Good performer. I also use GRAID 2 bay RAID 0 for my portable system. RAID 1 halves the speed. Don’t bother with RAID 1 for editing. None of the guys I know here in Singapore use Lacie. So, can’t comment on that.
I personally won’t store more than 60-70% of the RAID’s capacity. 30-40% is usually free.
For 8 TB of usable space, go with a 12TB or even 16TB RAID 5. With all the versioning, exports, GFX imports, 8 TB soon becomes 10-11 TB.

Hello Andrea,
A few things:)
The first few shots, you could mix in a closer shot of the crowd. Those wide shots make the place look empty. Close ups of faces (diff angles) would make it more interesting.
And like others have suggested, close up of food.
The shot of the wine glasses could be made interesting by shooting the glasses with people (out of focus) in the BG or with sunlight from the window in the BG.
You could cut in close ups of people, close ups of notes being written etc.

The media player in most TVs plays .mkv, .avi, .mp4. So, h264 MP4 should be good.

Those are below average read n write numbers. How is your RAID connected to your computer? Best would be thunderbolt. Or miniSAS.USB 3 is ok.
