Oh yes. Shane, now I remember you mentioning it elsewhere. It’s the latest version of the OS. Wanted to get the latest ver of MC subscription. Will wait till Avd support this ver of Mac OS then.
Am actually quite excited about the new MC. Been watching tutorials and feature videos the last two days:)

Hi Jenn,
I am a long time editor who just switched to X. Well, X and PrPro CC actually. For X the best tutorial would be Ripple Training’s. Got me started real quick. And X is one app for which you really need a tutorial, you can’t just jump into it like how you can with PrPro. Am loving both the apps:)

I think it was Andrew who replied to my query when I was in the same situation. Tried the PrPro CC trial and never looked back. I use both Cc and FCP X. Having fun with both.

Yep, Color Finale is pretty good. I haven’t used any of the other apps mentioned but I’ve seen Autograde in action and it’s good at what it does.

Since Canon came out with C100 Mark 2, you can get really good deals on the C100 Mark . It is still a very good camera. You could start out renting lenses, and buy a few primes along the way.
p.s: I’m in the same boat too. An editor starting my own (small) productions. The yet-to-be-released BM Ursa mini looks like a great option.

If you’re not planning to capture and looking for a video I/O only for monitoring, check out UltraStudio Mini Monitor from BlackMagic. https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/ultrastudiothunderbolt Works great. If you think you need to capture video as well as monitor, UltraStudio express. I’ve been using these for a long time now and am pretty happy with BM products. AJA also have similar offerings, but a bit expensive.
HP have a really good monitor, I keep forgetting the model. It is one of the dreamcolors. Although, I’d say get a Flanders for colour grading:)

+1 to what Tero says. You need a Thunderbolt RAID like the Promise Pegasus (RAID5) or if portability is more important the GRaid Thunderbolt (RAID 0) is good. I use them both and they serve me well. Caldigit and the other vendors here also offer Thunderbolt solutions.
What NLE do you use? Editing 4K files natively also depends on the processor/playback engine used.

I get you Steve:) After moving to FCP X and PrPro CC from legacy, had to edit a project on MC. Jeez. This was after being a MC editor till 2002. The interface looked so old. Ancient. Felt like I was using a machine in a museum. I know guys using MC swear by it, but I’ll never go back to MC. PrPro CC it is:)
