Anyone have opinions on Hawaiki AutoGrade or HyColour Pro?
Posted by Noam Osband on May 7, 2015 at 1:51 pmI’m looking into 2 different color correction programs: Hawaiki AutoGrade or HyColour Pro. I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with either of them and wants to share an opinion?
thanks!

May 7, 2015 at 2:18 pmFor color in FCP X, Hawaiki Color, Autograde, Lawn Road Color Precision, and Color Finale are all great. I haven’t used HyColour Pro, so I have nothing to add there. What specifically did you want to know and what are your color correction needs?

May 8, 2015 at 7:25 amThe Hawaiki products are all good. I use their Automatch plugin almost every day. i also have and like HyColour Pro and use it almost every edit. It’s a one-stop shop for simple colour correction. Hycolour’s only failing is that it doesn’t support 4k very well.
On almost every edit I’d use, in order of frequency, Color Finale, HyColour Pro and Hawaiki AutoMatch.

May 11, 2015 at 4:04 pmI need it mainly for color correction. I think I’ll go with HyColour. I dont do color grading ever so I might just go with the 25 dollar HyColour color correction program…although part of me thinks I should pony up 20 more for the pro cause it might prove handy someday.

May 11, 2015 at 8:25 pmThe best thing about hycolour pro is the one click flourescent green cast remover and the vignette, which is better than the FCPX default one. If the current version is still 1.6 it’s fairly old now and I haven’t used it under fcpx 10.2so you might want to double check it still works.
If you’re only buying one colour correction plugin though, and colour correction is your number one use, then I’d advise color finale. I haven’t felt the need for hycolour pro since I got that.
