You’d have to scale it up pretty far to fill the entire frame. You’ll see a loss of quality as well. I’d leave it pillar boxed to save some quality. Best of luck.

Usually, I’m only critical about what I see on an external monitor which I calibrate with color bars, blue bars, etc. This signal is fed by a pro capture card like AJA Kona 3.
I typically won’t be monitoring for color on a computer monitor. In all my years as an editor, I’ve never seen any attention paid to calibrating computer monitors at the numerous post houses I’ve worked at. It’s all about the externals. No, I don’t think I’ve even seen it once. I have seen more editors not even using an external monitor these days, especially for non-broadcast. Seems to be a trend.
However, if that works for you and you’ve never had a kickback…carry on!

That’s not exactly true. ProRes 4444 can carry the alpha channel. Just enable Millions of Colors + in the output. With Macs, I much prefer it over the Animation codec.

Sounds like you’ve got a corrupt clip. See if the error message calls up the clip. If not, create a second comp and copy the first half of your piece into it. See if it will render. If it does, continue this process of “Halves” to isolate the clip. Once you’ve found it, replace it and see if you can render then.
