Yes, it appears you camera records AVI files and most DSLRs record H.264 files so it is rather different.Kevin Monahan

Try a sequence where you drag and drop one of the clips to the New Item button. This ensures that source and sequence settings match identically.
The other thing I would suspect is the original Pentax footage. I’ve never heard of anyone working with this camera so I am not sure if there may be issues with it.

You’ve got a 52 GB file, and that’s pretty large making it susceptible to lag. Did you drop frames on capture? How fast are your drives? If you don’t have drives with a solid sustained throughput, that could cause audio lag. What happens if you capture smaller segments?

Have you tried enabling “Maximum Render Quality”? That’s a high quality output.

In Keyboard shortcuts, there is a command called, “Replace from Clip>From Source Monitor, Match Frame”. See if that works for you.

It won’t snap, but if you click anywhere near the playhead, it will splice in the right place. Give it a go.
I prefer to make add edits with keyboard shortcuts, though: target the track, then press CMD+K (Ctrl-K Windows).
