Your drives are too slow or your clips are too long. If you log the in and out points and then batch
the single long clip, that sometimes works.Some people can capture a full hour long clip with FireWire drives while others cannot.
Depends on the drive, and if you are daisy-chained to a slower camcorder or not.
Get faster drives, like a G-RAID and get a FireWire PCI or PCMCIA FireWire Card
for an additional bus to separate your decks and drives. A separate internal drive works well
in my experience.As FCP becomes more sophisticated, FireWire drives are becoming less reliable, IMHO. Especially

Why not blade the clip and then copy/paste attributes from the first half of the clip. That can be done, no?

I’m sure you are aware that the G-RAID is FireWire 800 being slowed down to FireWire 400 speed since you are pumping data off the same bus as the JDeck. Your win lies in that since you do have a higher quality deck, the speed is maintained at FW400, plenty for DV. Many people use a cheap camcorder that are only at FW200 speed. The cheap camcorder daisy chained to any FW device is going to cause problems slowing it down to FW200 speed, whereas a better deck and FireWire drive combo will give better results. This is just one of the reasons some people have success with FireWire and some don’t.Kevin Monahan

Avoid moving around the wireframes to place text. Use the point controls in the Controls Tab, not Center in the Motion Tab or the wireframe.
Use Title 3D.
Don’t use pure white. Take down brightness to less than 90.

You made a vertical video effect that is not RT, correct? Then you alter that clip which requires a totally new render file to display.
I’m sorry if I’m not seeing the problem, but that’s totally normal behavior of any non-RT effect.

It likely has to do with capturing the footage wrongly. Can you do a test with a different cadence?
Also, you should be in SAFE RT and not Unlimited. Make sure the dark green “FULL” bars are checked in the Sequence>Render menu as well.
