Guys,
He’s already done his text in AE. Make sure you check it in a video monitor. Make sure you are in Safe RT and High Quality/Full Frame Rate.Also avoid the DV Codec. If you can at least go for DVCPro 50. A huge difference in quality.

Never a good idea to do ANYTHING with your system while you are capturing video. My suggestion is to get a mac mini or iMac for your multi-tasking. Better yet, go get some coffee.

It should be auto installed unless you are running FCP 4-4.5. In that case, look in the Extras Folder of the Install Disk under “Boris Calligraphy”.

You hook up a NTSC monitor to your deck or camcorder.One thing I don’t like about the iMac is that you are forced to put your external storage and deck on the same FireWire bus. There is no opportunity for an additional bus to be added like there is with a tower or a powerbook.
I myself cannot recommend FCP on an iMac FCP for this reason. Stability is KEY!

Have a look in the video monitor. Are you still seeing the problem? You can’t judge rendered graphics without an external monitor. The Canvas displays a much lower quality than what is reality.

With LT2 you can also move your media files, but use the Edit>Preferences to move them.

Are you monitoring your footage correctly?
Speakers connected to the deck/cam NOT the Mac?
Video monitor hooked to the deck/cam?If not, do that first and post back.

Always unmount your FireWire drives before shutting down to prevent a fried B-Tree. If I were you, when I could not force quit FCP, I can still get to the desktop to unmount that drive.
Not many realize the importance of unmounting drives before shut down, before it’s too late. Then, only DiskWarrior can save you- and even then, it doesn’t always work.
