So I have been working on this movie shot with dvx100. I was working in fcp 4.5 up until very recently. I knew about the 2 frame audio offset that was supposidely found with this camera and fcp but I never noticed it until I upgraded to fcp 5. That seems so strange to me. I was looking for it, but couldn’t see any sync problems until now. Anyhow, I have been editing for a while on this, just want to make sure it is possbile to fix this sync issue on clips and have it reflected in the timeline. Anyone know if this is the case, or should I just move all the audio in the timeline by two frames when I’m done with the edit?

    Thanks,
    Eli

I know there used to be a utility that shipped with fcp 4.5, but I’m not sure about fcp5. Look in the extras folder of your install disk. Also, you should post this in the DVX100 forum, I’m sure someone will hit you right back with a suggestion to fix this.

Are you monitoring your footage correctly?
Speakers connected to the deck/cam NOT the Mac?
Video monitor hooked to the deck/cam?

If not, do that first and post back.

I, also, have been having no problem with syncing my DVX100 audio with any version of FCP until yesterday. I was wondering what could suddenly cause it now. Moving the audio timeline +2 is a quick fix, but not perfect. The perfect placement actually seems to be at 1.5+ – as if that was even a possibility! I have not applied the Offset Audio Sync Tool, yet and was searching for this problem before doing so.

I’m using FCP 5.1.3 and I DO have audio/video from external deck.

After doing some digging, I’m assuming that this is yet another side effect of the 5.1.3 update.
