Thanx for your help! Yep, 2′ of standard cable works for the moment, but I’ll look into getting a higher quality connection.

In the “HDTV up / down converter” it is set to “Output HD to SD letterbox 16:9” the option to turn off this feature is grayed out. If I select the other option which is “anamorphic 16:9” I get a distorted image.
Thanks for your input, I hadn’t tried the different setting yet.

It’s 1080i 60. When I hook up the dell to my radeon 2600 card it looks great. When I view the source tapes from the camera to the dell it looks great. All my settings are using decklinks 1080i hdv 59.94 or whatever from the easy set ups. I’m beginning to believe I have a bad card. (deck link pro) I’ve tried throwing out all preferences and starting from scratch and it still gives me the small, blurred image size.
Is there a way to check my card?

Yes, I should see an image with a black bar on top and bottom of about 1.5 inchs or so, and the image should be clean and tight. It Isn’t. Its blurry. I’m using FCP 5.04 but I don’t think that is the problem.

Its obvious I’m doing something wrong in my set up. I’m at the end of a project and this was probably not the time for new equipment. I’m not seeing full screen on my dell but only a small image with a black 4″ border around the image.

Heres an update for anyone following this saga. Looks like I have a bad HDlink. I’m sending it back and when I get it hooked up with a new one I’ll come back and tell of the success.

So… where do I go from here? In case this makes a difference I’m running system 10.4.6 and FCP 5.0.4 with an ADI Radeon 9600 in it. I feel something is wrong with the Decklink pro card or the HDlink and I have no way of testing either. I ran one of the sdi monitor out video connections into a standard tv monitor via an adapter and got no picture that way but I’m not sure it would show an image that way.
BTW, how warm should the HDlink get? Mine isn’t hot to the touch but it is definitly very warm.

The lights are lit on the HDlink. However after dropping the clips into the new sequence still no video. I’m not getting anything on the second monitor, not even the desktop.

Ok, I have audio through the HDlink but still no video. I have the video set to all frames, the video playback set to HDTV 1080i 25, 8 bit. hz .
Help?
This is a show that I’d already captured using sony fx1 set to HDV and sony firewire. Would that make a difference? Still, I can’t see anything on that second display. In FCP or Motion, or the desktop. Nothing. I’ve updated the latest software for the decklink still nada.
