  • HD Link to Dell 24″, how to get picture larger?

    Greetings all!

First off, thanx to all who attempted to help me last time. Turns out it was a combo of a bad dvi cable with bad hdlink. All is well on the image showing up. I work in FCP on a dual 2.7 mac and I have a couple of questions.

    1. The image of my desktop or in FCP on the dell 24″ sits inside a black box so I’m not utilizing the full size of the monitor. I realize this is because its set to 720 not 1080. How do I change it?

    2. I captured and edited from a Z1 in the FCP easy set ups before I got my decklink card. The material was captured to a second internal sata drive. Is there any advantage to changing it to the Blackmagic codec (1080i, 29.97, 8 bit?) and will my drive be able to handle it?

no – your internal single SATA drive WILL NOT be able to handle uncompressed 8 bit HD 1080i material. You need a BIG MAMA drive array.

    Hi,

We do not scale 720p video with the HDLink so you’ll not be able use the full screen estate of your 24″ display.

Your SATA driver will not be able to handle uncompressed HD at 8-bit. You’ll require some sort of disk array for uncompressed HD.
