You need to buy a new computer for quad processor (or build it yourself, which usually ends up to be more expensive then a brand name at Best Buy). On ebay you can get a quadcore for about $600.

I had the same idea at one time and tried to save back edited MTS files to the HG10, but it did not work.
Can anyone figure out how to do it? Would be nice. Thanks JK -

Thank you Mike for the CoreTemp suggestion it works well and it is free. Also shows the load on each processor. When V8 renders all four processors are 95-100 % engaged. With the Q6600, overclocked to 6.67 MHz, a 1.5 hour AVCHD to MPG2 takes 1.5 hours.
The core temp runs around 50-56 C, maximum for the Q6600 is 62C

I had my HV20 fixed at Canon Factory service in Irvine CA. There is a Canon factory service in your area. Google it.
They charged me $157 and fixed everything for one fixed price. They are good. Call them and discuss the details. If your camera is under warraty they will fixed it free if you have the purchase receipt.

You need FCP exprss 4. It will read HG10. I have friend who use it.

Definitly Vegas Pro8c. It will handle HDV, AVCHD with dual but preferably Quad. JK

You may render AVCHD on the V8c timeline to any format available in Vegas 8c, such as HD, SD, bluray, quicktime etc. jk

I have an HG10. AVCHD can be imported directly from the HG10 (or) 20, into SONY Vegas Pro 8c (you need 8c because even 8b has some problems with AVCHD). 8c will play AVCHD from the timeline with a minimum of Dual Core PC, but quad core is better and works great.
