I have been using Vegas 7 Studio to edit (standard definition) footage on my PC (Core 2 Duo 2.66). About a year ago I upgraded to a HD camcorder however, have since experienced problems with editing (stuttered footage after render). I am now upgrading the PC to latest quad-core (i7-920) processor and am hopeful this will address the issue. My question is, which version of Vegas should I upgrade to given I will be editing HD footage (Vegas 8Pro, Vegas 9 Platinum etc)?
    Hoping you could assist

Definitly Vegas Pro8c. It will handle HDV, AVCHD with dual but preferably Quad. JK

Since you are already using Movie Studio 7 you might consider Movie Studio 9 Platinum which will handle HD quite well. If you have the money, of course, Vegas Pro 8 will give you more capability than any Movie Studio version.

Thanks very much John – appreciated.
Could you confirm that Vegas 8Pro will have no problems picking up a project created in Vegas 7 (and thus saved in .veg format)?
    Again thanks

Yes, Vegas Pro 8 is upward compatible with Vegas 7 project files. I haven’t had any issues with my old projects.
