My main keyboard setting is named “Casio” in honor of the first keyboard I ever owned.

  • On a PC F1 is reserved for launching Help. I wonder if Lion has some kind of default F1 behavior baked in?

  • In order to snap tails you need to hold Option.

the behavior described is a bug. It happens if you just hold option and click your tc track. I can’t recall if it’s been fixed in v5.5.3 or not

  • My first thought on this would also be to transcode the AMA footage before ducking.

You have to move the mixdowns to their own sequence first before you can export as QTref or SAS.

You haven’t explained what happens when you try to link the footage. do you get an error? Does it start to link but then stops?

Details would help us help you.

September 26, 2011 at 7:57 pm in reply to: Importing XDCAM footage from multiple folders

What format are the files in exactly? If they were wrung through Premiere first, they are likely not in their original raw XDCam format. Unless, they were nice enough to give you the camera originals in their native file folder structure.

I know that many who use FCP will Log and Transfer the footage into some other codec, which creates .mov files. I’m betting the same thing holds true for Premiere.

Avid allows us to use the camera originals (ie, BPAV folder if it’s EX footage) and it can easily be accessed via Link to AMA Volume.

  • Years ago, I created my own using a combination of Add Edits, Top to Bottom pushes and some other effects to mess up the footage. I used it on an episode of Mega Engineering.

A precursor to the effect I created can be found at the beginning of my (now somewhat ancient and in need of a serious update) demo reel from 2006. kentonvannatten.com

August 15, 2011 at 9:57 pm in reply to: how to add(import) media from the avidmediafiles

Try renaming that “Per og Gert” folder to a number, then delete the msm files in each of the numerical folders.

If you import any files, it creates new MXF files, so you don’t necessarily want to create more media.

It also occurred to me that the files that you are seeing in the folders may be Pre-Computes and not actual tape or imported media.

  • [John Castelli] “I went with DVDxDV- mostly because it was the only one I saw that allowed you to mark an in and out on a specific clip you want”

You can do that with MPEG StreamClip as well.
