My point exactly. I had just updated everything when I saw the original post. I was so excited to see this finally available for Mac but alas it was only available for a few moments. Hopefully, Panasonic will get cracking and get it fixed…FAST!

Yes, i know that it says that it WILL NOT work with 7.2, but I also know that some of the more daring folk here sometimes push that envelope and was wondering what would happen if it were installed on a machine with 7.2.
What exactly doesn’t work with 7.2?
Are there plans to make it work with 7.2?These are things that my inquiring mind wants to know.

Barry Green had a post on the DVXUser forum that suggested using a laser rangefinder to ensure focus. I know that not every situation lends itself to this method,, but I use it frequently.
I purchased a $99 LASER “tape” measure from Lowes. I set the camera to display focus in feet and inches in the viewfinder. I take a measurement off of the subject, dial in my focus and shoot away.
Also, you can hit the DTL button on the rear of the camera to turn on and off the detail feature.

But I noticed that it will not work with QT 7.2. Has anyone tried it with 7.2? This looks really cool, but without 7.2 support it is worthless to me.

That has been my experience with BH as well. I think that I just needed to vent a little, I was actually hoping that Jan might respond about the future of the 4 gig card. The more I think about it I’m sure that Bh can either get more 4 gig cards or they will make it right in some way. I just responded the way that any kid would if you gave them their new toy on Christmas with no batteries. Oh well, no big stuff coming until after Passover so I will get by.

While I will agree that I probably should have done a little more research on the availability of the the cards, I can hardly agree that BH bears no responsibility here. They willingliy took my money for two 4 gig cards that it seems will never be available. This in my mind is deceptive. Now what I hope will happen if there is in fact a shortage, that BH will honor that payment and send me an 8 gig card that they apparently still have in stock (according to their website). But to say that they have no fault here is wrong. They have almost $1000 of my money, and that is wrong.

You can also get a fairly cheap plug in from Digital Heaven that will do this and allow you to change font, size, etc.

I just ordered a removable HDD system to do this very thing. It is made by Sonnet Tech, a Fusion 500. It is a removable HDD box that connects via eSATA. Nice thing about this box is that I can have two or more drives striped for editing and another single drive to archive everything to when I am finished, That drive will then be removed, labeled, boxed and stored in case I need it again. I will be starting this project with two 320gig drives striped and a 250gig drive for archive. The archive drive will hold my 6 hours of 720p/24pN footage, plus all resulting mpegs, project files, etc. The whole setup including the Fusion 500, eSATA Express/34 card (for the MBP) and 3 drives was about $825.

I’m guessing that you want to monitor your footage out of FCP. To do this you need a card like the Kona so that you can get HD out of your system. This would be the best option. For an alternative, you can use an HD monitor like the Apple 23″ or Dell 24″ and connect it to an extra DVI port (if you have one) and use the Cinema Desktop Display from FCP. That’s how I will do it when my Dell gets here today, because it’s hard to fit a Kona card in a MacBook Pro!

Try closing your current project, going to Easy Setup and selecting DVCproHD 720/24. Then open a new project and re-import your footage from the original mxf files. When you place this footage on your new sequence things should look fine. I shot about 6 hours of 720/24pN footage and put it in a project using these settings and it looks great!
