May 5, 2011 at 3:02 am in reply to: FCP TIMELINE @ 59.94_editing with mixed frame rate footageDave,
[Dave LaRonde] “My suggestion: grab a 23.98 clip, remove the pulldown (if necessary), and play it back in a 23.98 timeline as a test.”
Did you mean that he should take the 59.94 and conform it to 23.98 and put it ALL in a 23.98 timeline?
If so, I would agree that conforming the 59.94 footage in Cinema Tools is the way to go.

It looks like you need to use LUT Buddy, a free download from Red Giant Software. https://www.redgiantsoftware.com

April 28, 2011 at 6:53 pm in reply to: How can I Export AVCHD files for vimeo as fast as possible?Dang it, Shane beat me to it. Get the Elgato piece, the hardware, not the software only version. It offloads some of the process and creates great looking Vimeo ready h.264 files very quickly. I couldn’t survive without one.

I have used voice123 with excellent results.

Kannan,
I use the setup described here – https://www.kensummerall.com/portable-voice-over-booth – with the Blue Snowball. I have no problems with the amount of gain that I get. The whole setup is very portable.

As tends to be the case, as soon as I post a question I find the answer.

There you go.

Noah,
I was told that Toast would encode to mpeg2 for a SD DVD from the mts files. Can you confirm that?

[Trevor Ward] “4. Both cameras shoot a variety of HD and SD.”
That is not the case. The 150 is HD only.
[Trevor Ward] “So ignoring the compression needed to get the image onto a card, the 150 is better.”
Not sure if you can ignore the compression and say that you can get a better image with more compression. You have to factor in the compression factor.
[Trevor Ward] “The 150 data has to be transcoded into ProRez during the Log and Transfer process. For a MBP, this is a little slower than real time. “
This would depend on which MBP you have. I have a newer 15″ (not the really new one) that can do the transcode faster than realtime.
Other than those point I think you have some valid ideas. Ultimately it is up to you to decide. I have an HVX200 and HMC150, I like them both for different reasons.

February 24, 2009 at 3:36 pm in reply to: Projector screen – compositing slides on in post?[Peter Ralph] “So I just get some shots of the blank screen with no presenter, and then on the FCP timeline composite the photos on top?”
You can do that, or what I do is get a copy of the presentation from the presenter. Usually this is powerpoint, export the slides as graphics and use those in FCP. Very easy to do, unless I am not understanding what you want to do.

This one is not all online, but it has an online and desktop component. Try Celtx at http://www.celtx.com. It is free and open source. I have not tried out the scheduling component but I know that it has one. If you sign up for an account and use the versioning system it should work for you.
I did a little video tutorial for a couple of guys that I share stuff with, not fancy but it may help. You can find it here: https://www.screencast.com/t/GhbQcagb61
