How do I locate the installed video CODEC’s in WinXP?

Well, my “colleague” is reluctant to upgrade or learn newer technologies. The problem with XP and Raptor is the fact that when trying to output an MPEG-2 file, the PC locks up totally. Same happens with other video applications. Maybe he’s missing a certain CODEC, .inf file, or .dll file. – I dunno. he is not in the Internet so he cannot get fixes from way back when.

Had to reset camera (Sony FX1000) menus to current date, time, etc., then I was able to capture tape. -KS

Just found out that my Z400 workstation isn’t designed to handle more than a 600W PSU and my GTX760 graphics card requires 550W (min.). Does anyone think I would be “safe” with that combination? I dunno.

Sony NX5U for aquisition (1080p). AVCHD Files come into PP *.m2ts. Using HP Z400 WS / 3.06 Quad CPU / 24GB RAM. External storage 6GB G-RAID + 4GB LaCie HDD. nVidia Quadro FX3800 GPU.

720 SD footage, no problem. Problem arises when I appy MB Colorista (mainly) to correct WB in 1080 footage (AVCHD). Spacebar plays audio okay, but footage is “jerky”.

Maybe the best solution at this point is to convert footage with GoPro Cineform? I wish to keep 1080 since most of my clients have large (40″ or larger) LED TV’s.

Everyone is getting the wrong idea. The effect with rolling bands is like trying to video an older TV set with (for instance) an VHS camcorder. The disocoration ‘bands’ move in a specific amount of time from bottom to top. Rolling shutter is not the problem. -KS

Thanks, Ted… the problem lies with the bands moving from top to bottom within a couple of seconds. Unfortunately the footage I’m trying to correct is 22 min. long so at specific times I would have to split the layers and repeat the ‘tracking’ process after (so many) seconds. Can’t re-shoot so I may just scrap the whole thing… non-paying job might I add. -KS
