I have a mac and 2 pcs. Conform anything to anything and try to
avoid going back to the client or their techs to change something for you. Then you will appear to be seamless while everyone else had to ask for help. Works every time. I have the client’s clients calling up asking how to make things work.. Cross platform is the key.

If you feel that you need to use a higher bitrate for AVC you can
render the file in dvd architect up to 40 Mbps.. But unless you have
extreme motion or you are shooting water etc.. I don’t think that you would be able to see the difference.

I also use a Kodak Zi8. Works great for the price. Just use a tripod. The Zi8 is also one of it’s kind to have an external microphone input.

I have been using the ASUS P8P67 Premium with a 2600K and 8gig of ram
since the day they came out.Flawless and very fast for video.Faster than my 950. The usb 3 works great.Besides buying it on sale when it first came out I will exchange it for a new board when MicroCenter gets them in and collect a $25 gift card for my trouble…It’s really not too much of a problem to change the board. And I have already payed it off with the work done on it so far.I am also thinking about purchasing an Ultra Studio Pro and was wondering if there are any issues…

It would be a good idea to ask him first… If it is apple hdv or intermediate codec.. you really can’t use them on a pc and he will have to convert them to prores or something else.. If it is dvcprohd then you can purchase the codec from Raylight..K

I have been using an HP Pavillion 9543.. This model is 2 years old and only has a core 2 duo BUT… HP 17 inch laptops have 2 internal drives.. which means that you can use one for your operating system and one for your video elements… this adds greatly to the speed of the system without adding an external esata or usb3 drive… firewire and usb drives would be much slower…

If you use a program such as Autodesk Cleaner, Anystream etc.. you would use ADAPTIVE deinterlacing which simply deinterlaces only what needs to be deinterlaced and not the whole picture.

  • USB 3 is more than fast enough. It’s the read and write speed of the single drive that is slowing you down… If you hook up a 3 or 4 drive usb3 raid(or any other type of multiple drive raid) you should have more than enough speed to capture uncompressedor compressed hd… Ken
