We have imported a number of projects from Avid and FCP with Automatic Duck and have had no issues.

Could Elements be the cheap DV/HDV offline application for PPro? Can you import an elements project into PPro?

The static electricity from your body is the killer of bare drives. Just make sure you have grounded yourself to drain the static before you handle the drives. Most static charges will not harm the drive. It’s just the big ones.
Only handle the drive by the sides and don’t touch the circuit board on the bottom.
I have 20 or so 250gb drives on the shelf.
I usually charge the client for the drives and mark them up 15%Ken Adolph

We backup all our projects to bare IDE drives using this adapter:
https://wiebetech.com/products/ComboDock.phpWe then put them in the static bag that they come in and put them in 30 min Betacam tape cases. They almost fit 😉
Then you can put an elastic around the case to keep it shut and store it somewhere that is electro static free and cool.Ken Adolph

If you need to edit the video change the extension from vob to mpg and load it into PPro2

It seems like a waste of time to capture all these clips in order to then output them so the client can pick the correct ones. Just do what we do. Make a TC burn of the original tapes to VHS or DVD and let them look at these instead of capturing everything.
