  • experience importing .AAF from avid to PPro?

Posted by Matt Stalker on June 9, 2006 at 2:31 pm

    Hi,

We don’t have any experience exporting .AAF from our Avids (where rough cuts are usually done) to PPro (on workstations where compositing usually done) and it’s proving to be a bit more difficult than we had hoped. If anyone has any experience exporting .AAF from Avid to PPro2 could you please provide some details on the process? We’ve tried it but we’re getting unexpected results and we think we’re missing some details…

    Thank you,

    Matt

What are the unexpected results you’re seeing?

Also take a look at https://www.automaticduck.com/pipp/

We have imported a number of projects from Avid and FCP with Automatic Duck and have had no issues.

    Matt,

I concur with Wes and Ken. I haven’t ever gotten a (fully)
successful Avid AAF (from Express Pro or Adrenaline) into
PPro 1.5 or 2.0 by themselves. Wes’s importer works
flawlessly on the same AAFs that didn’t otherwise work.
    (Thanks, Wes!)

But we have found so many other issues with PPro (mainly
1.5- we have yet to give 2.0 a fair and full evaluation) that
we scrapped the idea of using it in a online/finishing
    capacity for now.
