I’ll look into the report as that sounds like something that I’ve seen.. however, as I worked in publishing for a few years at different companies, I’m wondering why you don’t receive the files at the proper size?

I can understand a layman providing something but if you’re producing a publication, why are you having to resize the work from the designers? Why wouldn’t they have the specs to provide you a pdf at 100% of the dimension?

Or maybe I’m just reading this wrong?

Are you selecting the text itself or just the text frame?

To apply effects to text, just select the text frame.

any chance there is a clipping path in the .ai file? Or what about runaround within InDesign?

You can just copy and paste the illustrator image into/onto the appropriate pages and try that. Depending on complexity, that seems to solve many weird problems that can occur with importing an Illustrator image.

What version of InDesign are you using to place the Indesign documents into?

Are all the documents (master and smaller) created with the same version and on the same platform?

This might be a scripting issue to handle it.

“Forced” is a strong word! My line has always been “We can do this that way or the professional way. Now don’t get embarrassed, this is where experience is useful” of course you need to say all that with a ‘smile’ in your voice.

Doesn’t seem ideal but after your response to this post, I’ll see if I can think of anything.
