When you say you’re trying to upload, do you mean “make a file to upload” or “upload a file to Comcast”?

My latest spec sheet says that MPEG-2 is a preferred format, and I’ve got the Comcast mother ship upload instructions if you want to email me for it.

Before I post to Craig’s List, are there no video editors in Las Vegas who are interested?

I’ve gotten three responses to my ad so far… One guy from Michigan who wants me to fly him there NOPE, one guy from France who says it’ll be a piece of cake to work remotely (forget the time difference) NOPE and one guy from Korea or somewhere who’s looking for a full-time job NOPE.

Piece ‘O Cake: Rather than try to insert a .veg, go to that original .veg and just render it with an alpha channel (or recreate it in AE or Fusion). Then, insert it as just a video clip (sorry, “event”) so that all you’re changing is the overlayed text itself.

What I’ve been doing is to just drag the good audio file onto the timeline below the camera audio, just roughly aligning the waveforms of the two. Then, I select the good audio, press “play” and then just nudge the audio left or right (1 or 3) until the echo goes away.

Pretty quick.

You may be hard pressed to come up with whatever “that” looks like… BetaSP was a pretty dang nice format for a long time, and aside from occasional “dropouts”, I don’t know what one would expect the look to look like.

Hey Ron–

I used to fret about this as well, but here’s what I’ve discovered over the last two or three years (in no particular order of importance):

(1) I barely even USE my nice, purty 32″ LED/LCD monitor; maybe just for real detail stuff, but that’s about it.

(2) I’d say don’t waste your money on “studio” monitors; since there’s no real apples-to-apples comparisons that I can even think of anymore, it’s just not gonna really matter if you get something “pretty decent”. I think I spent $800 for my LG monitor; it’s gorgeous, but I probably could have just as effectively gotten something for half the price.

(3) To more directly answer your question about calibration, here’s what occurred to me that works just fine: I did a shoot, and got my camera LCD display looking perfect compared to what just my raw eyeballs saw. When I got back to my studio, I just tweaked my work monitor and LG monitor until they looked like my camera display.

Apples to apples to apples. Bodda bing.

Call me simplistic and crazy, but that’s what seems just dandy here.
