Is Sony planing a next generation Vegas Pro release or are they abandoning Vegas Pro NLE and going the Ci (cloud) route?

Those who know anything, cannot speak due to NDA.

And, boy, if “Cloud” means paying over and over for a tool I’ve already bought several times, you can be sure I’ll do my damnedest to stay with what I’ve got.

    Long live Photoshop ver. 6!

I don’t think SCS could survive following Adobe over the ransomeware cliff. They would certainly go without me, and I’ve been on Vegas since Version 3.

“Ransomware”… perfect, hadn’t heard that term before. An associate of mine is now cursing himself for “upgrading” himself straight to an IV right into his VISA account with Adobe.

I hope SCS gets forwarded this string if they’re making any motions in that direction. I would love to see the villagers’ protest (right where it hurts).

I’m with you, Stephen. I will NEVER buy any ransomeware product! Period.

If Sony makes that error, it will be time to abandon Vegas. There are other choices than Adobe. Heck, it might be time to help VideoLan Movie Creator take off:

I think Adobe has gotten significant backlash on Photoshop CC since they have gone through a couple of stages of lowering the subscription price for existing users. Adobe stuck their toes in the water and it is quite cold. They will get away with it but they are a super dominant app in their market.

Photoshop CS6 is my last PS.

I agree. I laugh every time I get an email about “locking in a lower price” for CC. If it was successful, they would not be having constant sales like that. Only big companies can afford to feed Adobe every month. I know I can’t. I’ve already found replacements for all of my Creative Suite products. When CS6 stops working that will be the end of my Adobe usage.

I doubt highly that Sony would be stupid enough to follow Adobe off that cliff. I’m hoping Sony’s next move with Vegas Pro is to the Mac like they did with Sound Forge Pro. 😉

” Only big companies can afford to feed Adobe every month.”

I have been a subscriber of the “Photoshop User Magazine” for years. It was $99 per year and came with a boatload of tips, tutorials and other useful articles in their magazine.

But they have followed Adobe over the cliff. The subscription is now $25 per month or $250 per year. And they throw in more tutorials (CC of course) to make it easier to swallow.

They have backed off a bit and graciously allow existing subscribers to keep the $99 per year rate for now.

ADOBE = Always Dumbed-down On Better Examination!

Adobe simply buys up a great program, dumbs it down and charges more, plus they usually bundle it with other overpriced programs that you don’t really need, or want, but have to purchase to get the program you do want!

    I HATE ADOBE!!!!!

[Kevin McCarthy] “Adobe simply buys up a great program, dumbs it down and charges more”

Or they buy it and kill it like they killed HDV Rack and Ultra Chroma key from Serious Magic. That was a “serious mess”. I owned both HDV Rack and Ultra and I hate Adobe for what they did to those two programs I used a lot.

The CC debate has been hashed out a lot. The bottom line is that the only people who benefit from a subscription model is the company collecting the money. There is absolutely no incentive for them to build a better product because they no longer have to entice customers to buy it. You just tweak a few features and collect your monthly fee because the customer has given up their free will not to buy it. That’s why we call it “ransom-ware”. They are holding you hostage and threatening to turn off your tools if you stop paying.
