I guess the DVD is protected. It won’t work in Streamclip, and the deck stops automatically when I attempt to dub. (I know this is because this is illegal; we will get clearance after my boss is able to see and choose the footage.) Any ideas for ripping a protected DVD? Anyway, thanks for clarifying that my other attempt is not possible.

Hi Eva,
Did Bob’s instructions work for you? I’m trying it and still getting no video. Were you able to get it?
Thanks if you can help.

June 12, 2008 at 11:13 pm in reply to: Print to Video Question: Not 16×9 on my external monitor?Hello,
I’ve been eavesdropping on this conversation as I try to make sure my DVDs play properly for my director.
(so a 16:9 DVD on a 4:3 TV will be letterboxed for output by the DVD player).
Does that mean 16:9 anamorphic? I want to export a sequence for DVD Studio Pro to create a DVD that will play right on whatever TV/DVD player combination my director might come across.
Is my best bet to export 16:9 from an anamorphic sequenece? (Our footage is 16:9 HD.) I’m still learning DVD Studio Pro and haven’t seen this very clearly explained yet.
Thanks for any help

Ok thanks, I’ve been putting it off.
One other question:
If record from straight from fcp to a DVD recorder, via our AJA card, that output will just be 16:9, right? What you see is what you get? Or is there a sequence setting that will somehow make it letterboxed on 4:3?
Thank you

Not really.
The AC wrote to me that it’s
“30fps with field reductions to create a synthetic 24p look”and the DP said it’s “24p 1080i”

Yes, I have the quicktime media. It was brought in at 29.97, 1280 x 1080.
I’ve been told it was shot 24 in a 1080i wrapper. Meaning (I’ve been told) that unless I remove the pulldown it will come in 30, even though it was shot at 24. Even when I do this though, it’s coming in 29.97. So I guess that’s another issue that you may know the answer to – how do I get 24 “wrapped in 30” to come in 24?
I am am quite confused and trying to get a grasp on it, and really need to get it into our project at 24 for my editor tomorrow. (This is B cam, and is supposed to match the A cam, which is true 24).
By the way, A cam is P2 3000 and B cam is P2 200.
Can you help?
