thanks I will try the rewinding and stretching the tape trick next time.

i lost my patience and just re-captured the clips and then “reconnect media” to the source clips in the edited sequence

    urghh what a headache

I am having a similar problem where 2 of the 3 tapes for a wedding shoot have drop outs.
I deleted the capture scratch to make room for another project. Now that I am back to working on the wedd edit, i thought it would be easy to batch capture the project clips. Big mistake!

I keep getting the error message: batch capture encountered timecode breaks in sequence items. To protect your edits, these clips were left offline and not divided into separate clips.

I tried changing the pre-roll amount to smaller number, no luck.
I tried capturing just the clip length in the sequence timeline, FCP still tries to capture entire master clip.
I tried changing the preferences and unchecked “abort ETT/PTV on dropped frames” as well as “abort capture on dropped frames”
is there anything else i can do to force it to capture through timecode drop outs?

I hope there is another option without having to recapture then manually putting clips back into the timeline 🙁

    thanks for all your advice!

Now i found out that my footage has been shot in PAL format.

Is this why FCP is acting so weird? Does imovie handle pal ok?
