    Yes, it is typo bug. Thanks for catching it. Tempory workaround is use {BgBlkSmei} instead of {BgBlkSemi}.

    Also, please keep in mind “white text black background” CC is most simple, safe and popular. Not all TV CC decoders fully implement CEA608 standard.

    {RCL}{ENM}{R15In08Wh}{TabOff3}{BgWhSemi}{BlTxt}Test{RdTxt}Color{EDM}{EOC}

    Do not worry about the black blocks at the beginning and the end,
    they are for decoration purpose up to TV decoder. It would be better for them to match text attributes.

    Semi-transparency is treated as opaque in Vegas, while TV decoder
    may give you real semi-transparent.

    You can download a tool called “Super Magnify” by google for it.
    As you move around, the tool tells the RGB value of pixels.

    I used the tool to verify that your original circle is not solid.

    Does ‘Media 100’ read CC raw data from MPEG2 or HD MXF files or decode CC from Line21 or VANC, parse and display CC, and encode CC?

    That Vegas Pro 10 does all of them(except MPEG2), does not mean all other NLEs do.

    If you select “grid”, can you see grid in Preview?
    If yes, then your CC markers have issues.

    For pop-on style caption, it should look like
    {RCL}{ENM}{R14In00Wh}- HI. I’M MURRAY FROM “SESAME{R15In00Wh}STREET,” AND I’M LOOKING{EDM}{EOC}

    For roll-up style caption, it should look like
    {RU3}{CR}{R15In00Wh}AND IT’S THE INTERNAL VALUES,

    In case, your CC markers are incorrect, no need to panick.
    If you want pop-on style caption, the fix is pretty easy.
    Save a copy of your Project just in case.
    Tools->Scripting->Export Closed Captioning for DVD Architect, you get a .SUB file.
    Delete all CC markers, then File->Import->Closed Captioning->
    (Select File types. sub) to import the .SUB file.
    You get your pop-on CC markers.

    If you need roll-up style caption, you have to fix it one by one.

    As mentioned, Vegas Pro 10 provides a way to “print to tape” with CC for HD. It works with a RAID drive, AJA HD-SDI card, and HDCAM-SR deck.

    Here is how CC was tested in Vegas Pro,
    tools->export video to XDCAM disc, (via firewire),
    then play the MXF file with CC on the XDCAM deck,
    output to TV.

    To create master tape with CC out of Sony MXF file,
    I was told you could use a HDCAM deck to
    record the broadcast output from the XDCAM deck.

    In Vegas Pro 10, there’ll be another way – print to tape, but needs RAID drive, AJA HD-SDI and HDCAM SR deck.

    So you may need a XDCAM deck. Just for your reference.

    Should not matter in Word or Excel. You end up copy and paste to create a plain text file.

    Vegas Pro 10 imports plain text file and automatically converts each line as a popup caption. The captions start at the playhead location and 2 seconds apart. After import, time-stamping captions can be done on-the-fly or one by one. Captions can be previewed and edited (text, underline, color, italics, position). Though default as CC1, they can be easily renamed to a different CC channel as a batch. At rendering time, 708 will be created by uplifting 608 as needed.
