The people are old magazine illustrations, 40ies or 50ies. Before 1946 could be old enough not to have a copyright.

You might get something remotely similar by using the water color effect in Photoshop, but unless you need to depict specific people, I’d suggest looking for such illustrations.

  • Perhaps multiple keys? Can you show a still from the footage?

  • One of the relatively simple way to do this is to add a Trim Paths to the Contents. Click on the Contents, from the”Add” menu (little triangle right next to the Contents) select “Trim Paths”. Select “Trim multiple paths individually” option. now you can animate the Start Value from 100 to 0 and the shapes will draw one after another in the sequence they appear under Contents. You can rearrange shapes by dragging them in the list.

You can control where the individual shapes start drawing by setting the first vertex (anchor point). You can do this by selecting the path under the Shape, then selecting the desired vertex with the direct selection tool (arrow) right-clicking on it and selecting: Mask and Shape Path > Set First Vertex.

  • I see. Don’t quite know why it doesn’t. Here’s an expression that does the same basic thing but doesn’t seem to have problem with continuously rasterize. Enable time remapping for the precomp and use this expression for Time Remap, keeping precomp at 25 fps.

    Math.floor(time*25/7)*7/25

Still not sure what you mean by “start” and “end,” but if you just want the word to appear at a certain point in time and disappear at another, you can trim the beginning and end of the layer to those points in time.

If you want the word’s animation to start at a given time and end at a given time, you need to use keyframes to set animation properties.

I don’t know of one place that would cover them all.

Video Copilot is my favorite. The lightning effect used is covered in “The Grid” tutorial:

    https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/the_grid/

Particular and Star Glow tutorials are found on the Red Giant site:

  • The cartoon comp should be 25 fps with a 7 fps posterize time effect applied.

You would cut out the elements in Photoshop, but all animation in your given example is done in After Effects. Depending on your skill level in After Effects this may or may not be a quick question to answer. Any specific technique/look/part of the procedure you are having trouble with?

  • I would suggest precomping the layer moving all attributes (so that the mask goes inside the precomp) and using Corner Pin. Corner Pin is pretty much the AE equivalent to Photoshop perspective transform, albeit more flexible as it remains adjustable.

  • A slightly awkward workaround is to copy the path to Photoshop, transform it there and copy back to AE. May need to render frame as still image and bring that in to Photoshop as well if you need to see the image over which you transform the mask. Not really useful if you want to do this a lot.

Perhaps there is another way to do what you want to do. What is it that you’re trying to accomplish?

[Edit: Just answered your question on the Photoshop forum]
