  • How to skew, distort and warp Masks or Paths in After Effects as done in Photoshop Free Transform?

Hello, i hoped by now there’s a way in After Effects to skew, distort and warp Masks\Paths as can be done in Photoshop Free Transform?
Thanks for any help or suggestions,

    Thanks Dave,
i’ve tried AE’s Free Transform but it does not allow Skew,Warp,Distort or esp. Perspective as PS does. I even tried selecting specific vertices to force skew\distort but AE still transformed the mask(s) as if all vertices were selected.

A slightly awkward workaround is to copy the path to Photoshop, transform it there and copy back to AE. May need to render frame as still image and bring that in to Photoshop as well if you need to see the image over which you transform the mask. Not really useful if you want to do this a lot.

Perhaps there is another way to do what you want to do. What is it that you’re trying to accomplish?

[Edit: Just answered your question on the Photoshop forum]

You might want to try Mesh warp. Limit your rows to 1 and your columns to 2. That coupled with a mask was not easy but closer to the tools I use in photoshop.

Simplest way is with Corner Pin. Add the same amount (i.e.: 150) to both upper left & upper right to skew the top of the footage over.

So when you add Corner Pin:
    – Upper Left would add 150px (so default 0 would become 150)
    – Upper Right would add 150 (so default might be 1920 which would then become 2070)

Mesh Warp works if you line up the handles with the edge of footage, but it uses bezier curves whereas Skewing is linear, not curved.
