2 hours of material from various digibeta tapes. Some lots of action some still sunsets, some animation, lots bof variety. All was digitized using my decklink SP. CODEC is BMD’s 10 Bit Uncompressed 4:2:2.

The frame rate of the clips is 29.97 and the sequence is the same, all the settings are the same, codec, compressor, pixel aspect, frame aspect, it’s all the same…

I have NO IDEA what’s going on… I’ve never had such a big problem and not even a clue as to what the problem is..

I did that…

I did the whole uninstall all software, uninstall drivers, reinstall all software, reinstall drivers, repair permissions, etc…

Nothing changed.

Another great app for fixing the prefs in FCP is called FCP Rescue 5.

Run it when you have good prefs in FCP, then when the prefs get corrupted, you open the app again, and it trashes the bad prefs and replaces them with yuour back-up.

The drivers remain uninstalled and the audio works. If I reinstall the drivers the audio starts drifting again.

I’m not sure if it makes a difference but I think I have a defective card – I am having it replaced by Decklink/my Reseller soon.

Hopefully when i get the new card I can reinstall the drivers without losing my internal audio sync. I generally use internal audio to listen and edit, and then the decklink to output to the deck.

With Quicktime you choose exactly what the FPS rate is before you import the image sequence.

One last thing I tried and it fixed the problem.

UNISTALL ALL DECKLINK SOFTWARE!

I only removed the quicktime component before.

Go figure…

I have a Decklink SP but it’s not working Properly. That’s why I am using built in audio as my output for playback. I am working with BMD to get the problem resolved. I tried unseating the card and removing the drivers to see if maybe IT was causing the problem but that didn’t change anything. Still the strange audio drift.

I don’t know if I fully understand the problem but here some info that might help:

Quicktime has differnet pixel aspect ratios as well as different frame aspect ratios.

16:9 and 4:3 Quicktime movies have the same number of pixels, but in the 4:3 movie the pixels are 0.9 pixel aspect ratio (normal) , in the 16:9 clip they are 1.2 pixel aspect ratio (anamorphic). That’s why there’s an “anamorphic” tick box for each of the clips in your bins.

Computers use square pixels to display Quicktime files so 4:3 will look pretty much normal but 16:9 will look more squished. I think when you export movies from FCP they are supposed to have a flag that tells other programs whether they have normal or anamorphic pixels. What’s important is when you re-import those files into another software like after effects or if you make frame grabs, make sure that the info has passed over. In After Effects, sometimes you have to ‘interpret footage’ which is basically where you set whether a source file has normal or anamorphic pixels.
