  • Timeline Playback is twice as fast as it should be… What’s going on?

Posted by Kai Whittaker on September 19, 2005 at 8:06 pm

I’m trying to play back video off of my timeline, and it’s playing back at almost twice the normal speed. Does anyboyd have any idea why?

I’m using final cut pro 5.0.2, and blackmagic 5.1 drivers for my decklink SP on a G5 dual 2.0 GHz with 2.5 Gigs of RAM. The media’s coming off of a HMV-400 hooked up to an ATTO UL3D card.

Could it be that my TBC bit the dust?

    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

    Trash prefs, then re-post.

    I did that…

I did the whole uninstall all software, uninstall drivers, reinstall all software, reinstall drivers, repair permissions, etc…

    Nothing changed.

What’s the material exactly? How did it get into the computer? What’s the material’s specifications and frame rate, and what’s the frame rate and specifications for the sequence? Does it play normally when opened from the browser into the viewer?

2 hours of material from various digibeta tapes. Some lots of action some still sunsets, some animation, lots bof variety. All was digitized using my decklink SP. CODEC is BMD’s 10 Bit Uncompressed 4:2:2.

The frame rate of the clips is 29.97 and the sequence is the same, all the settings are the same, codec, compressor, pixel aspect, frame aspect, it’s all the same…

I have NO IDEA what’s going on… I’ve never had such a big problem and not even a clue as to what the problem is..

    here some more info…

I am posting it here in case somebody can help who isn;t in the BMD forum.

I really think that it might just be that the Decklink 5.1 drivers are not working properly.

When the Decklink 5.1 drivers are installed in my system. final cut plays back all video with the video at about one and a half to 2 times the speed it should be playing back at, and the sound playing normally. I though the sound was drifting before but the real problem is that the decklink drivers seem to make the video play too fast.

When I uninstall the BMD Drivers (5.1) the video plays normally. whether it’s uncompressed 4:2:2 or DV footage.

Please help me I’ve narrrowed this problme down and now I have no ideas left. My shystem hasnn;t been wokring properly for weeks now, my work is ppipling up and even though i got a new card, reinstalled every part of my system anbd fixed my permissions… I still can;t output an iota of video.

    Please help me.

There may be a driver problem. You really should contact Black Magic.

    I have done so.

Everything else seems to work fine until I install that driver.

Any other ideas. I have to fix this today. My system has been down for weeks!
