hey all, really good read, thx for the info.
The Xraid is RAID 0 and I’m pretty sure it uses SATA drives…
Looking at the other offerings in more detail.

is it? Funny as it was touted as a valued solution for us… I haven’t really done any research into raids and such – is there any particular “premade” device you would recommend?
BTW in our tests the Xserve raid is set to raid 0 so it’s 14 disks runnint as one big one – no redundentcy and the best it could do was 235ish MB…

thx for the info Adam, any reason why you went the way of byrly instead of Sonnet’s offering?
I can’t believe you get so much IO with just 8x200GB – makes me wonder why the Xserve Raid requires 14 stripped drives to get only 235MB…

ugg, that doesn’t sound good – we only have the one raid array that supports HD capture- and there is a heap of shit on it which we can’t get rid off, any other suggestions?

Thx for your response Lu, but the only option is primary – no secondary or other…
so when I click on digital cinema it displays the full display on the primary monitor – the one with the menubars…

sounds easy enough – never tried motion because I read somewhere that it was actually hard to do in motion…
Glad I don’t have to go down the path of Photoshop file rolled in FCP..

thx again Kristian, I have been having an issue where the second field of every frame seems to lift black values, this might have inadvertantly Solved that problem…

so if one was to online, would this be a better option than using EDLs?
that is – bring hte project in without the media and re dig?

so does that mean when we playout it will playout as frames instead of fields as well?

sorry, I have a multibridge extreme… trying to bring in 1080i 25PSF image into FCP
