    Brian,

Here’s a link to a rough composite render of the scene using SAT mapping and Full Animation mode in GI for you to check out –

The flickering is still happening. Could this be something do with me using net render on the project? I have read online that there can be issues with GI and net render. Any suggestions?

    Pierre,

Have you tried importing the .aec file rather than opening it directly in AE?

You can’t open the .aec file directly in AE. You have to import the .aec file and it will create a folder with your C4D composition.

    Brian,

Thanks again for all the help. I’m going to be re rendering that scene early this week. I’ll try and post a link to show you the final results.

    Brian,

I rendered it out with the camera animation mode on. It didn’t help, it actually ended up having more flickering and bouncing. I think I may have pinpointed the problem though.

It is only really flickering on the ceiling and floor of the scene. Both the floor and ceiling have photo textures applied to them that we purchased from 3dstudio.com. Could these textures be contributing to the problem?

    Brian,

I am not using any animation modes in my gi. This is my first in depth use of gi on a project, where/how would I apply those settings? Thanks again brian.

    Adam,

Thanks so much. I’m now a member of the Yahoo group. I ended up moving the leaf’s object axis and adding a little bit more of a stem to the leaf in order to bridge that gap. Thanks for your help! and now I’m off to figuring out the wind tutorials…..

    Brian,

Sorry for not being clearer. I am trying to make a 3d cutout of the land and water of a california coastline.

Here is a picture of what I have right now.

    Photobucket

Basically I only want the water to show up on top of the plane in the region where water would naturally be, instead of cutting all the way through my plane as it is now. Eventually, I would like to fill the space under my displaced plane with the same material as the plane to give the effect of a cutaway of the earth. Thanks so much for all your help Brian. Really appreciate it.

    Brian,

Thank you so much!! You have once again solved the problem. Now that I’m using a plane with displacement for my landscape, and a cube for the water, is there way to make the cube create a water line along my landscape? Using a boole or….?

    Brian,

Thanks so much for always helping. I can’t seem to find anything wrong on the texture map in photoshop. Even if I copy and paste the rows of pixels it doesn’t help. Here’s the texture map. Don’t know if that would help at all. Any advice?
