Barnes and Noble, After Effects in Production, By: Trish and Chris Meyer. Gives the best Tutorial I’ve seen. I’ll try to make one tommorow once I get some free time. But check out that book you’ll be amazed.

  • What you can do is first search the web for Photoshop brushes that resemble that effect, it comes bundled with it already and with some modifications you can make them look real good. Then create the drips in a photoshop doc. then save and bring into AE. THen to make them drip just mask them and animate the mask.

    Good Luck,

  • Simply use the offset effect it makes for a never ending canvas/comp. I recommend Trish and Chris Meyer books. They cover this in there in detail. Its around $50 bucks or so but the best investment you will make I promise. either barnes and noble or cmp books have them.
Let me know if you have any other ?s.

    Good Luck,

  • make you strokes in Photoshop or other program etc.. then import into AE and animate mask for a write on appearence.

All you do is key frame the text opacity layer, move the current time indicator to the specific spot then set the opacity to 0. Then determine the duration of the dissolve and set another key frame to 100 %. The just duplicate that for the fade out but (REVERSE THE KEYFRAMES FROM 100 to 0%. and you now have a dissovle.

    Good luck,

  • If you are trying to create a endless canvas, which that what it sounds like. What you do Is just use the offset effect. In the Trish and Chris Meyer books they cover that in detail.

  • What you can do is re-shoot the shot and light it so the sword will not have the green reflections if not you only really have two options that I know of and that is to either rotoscope the person and the sword, and the make a adjustment layer that will act as a layer to the sword and then use you blending modes to blend it in with the sword and blend out the green color. OR you can key out the color and then use photoshop/maya etc… to make a replication of the sword.

    Good Luck,
