There are 2 things that I know will screw it up.

    1) If you are trying to import subclips, it screws up the import (at least on my machine it does).

    2) The Scale to Frame Size option on the Clip menu. I forget if it is supposed to be checked or unchecked, but one will screw up Premiere imports. Just try switching it from what you currently have.

The new Premiere update worked for me. I believe it’s 3.2.
I did it a few weeks ago and the problem vanished completely.

the difference matte filter could be an easy way to generate the matte if the camera is going to be locked down.

I too have this problem. I thought it might have just been because some of my projects had started in CS2, but it appears not to matter. the unlinked clips seem to happen more to subclips, but I don’t know if that’s really the case.

I’m using a brand new computer with a fresh install. Practically nothing on it except for the creative suite so adobe can’t blame it on plugins or extras on the computer.

You gotta check out the server motherboard section on Newegg… that’s where the 32Gig Ram monsters are kept. 🙂

It’s amazing what you can do with such a small crew and alot of creativity and know-how.

I have a question though, when you were doing multiple takes of the soldiers running up the beach, how were the takes all composited together? Garbage mattes? Blending modes? Rotoscoping?

Thanks for your help! I started experimenting with the pixel chooser and have gotten great results. I’m going to watch that DJ episode to give me some more ideas.

Don’t know if this issue has been resolved yet, but I have the same problem. There needs to be a BFX filter on both clips that are part of the dissolve. If BFX is only applied to one clip it will work fine.

I actually have the same question.
