Anyone have a good filter combo for soft focus in BFX?
I know I can do a decent one using a blur and mixing it back 50% or so with the original layer, but i’d like to have the highlights be accentuated and blurred more than the rest of the image.

Not sure if BFX has it, but look for Pixel Chooser parameters.

    Yup,
if you do a search on yahoo for “pixel Chooser” & Boris there are some good tutorials on how to get that effect. Alternatively, there is a really good tutorial on Digitaljuice.com under there DJTV section. Look for a cutting class episode on Blend Modes (Compositing Modes.) it has some really great tips that blur highlights. They are set up for Final Cut but they work really well in FX too.
(Update: episode 107 “Blending Bliss” specifically near the end of the tutorial.)

Thanks for your help! I started experimenting with the pixel chooser and have gotten great results. I’m going to watch that DJ episode to give me some more ideas.
