I don’t have any experience with Vegas BUT I would just suggest capturing from another firewire device should you have access to one. That way you can see if the camera is the culprit- or- if it’s Vegas that is giving you trouble.

The deck will not downconvert via firewire but will via analog i/o.

If you have a Decklink or a Kona to capture the analog signal then you can do a DV first cut.

I actually meant to say surety bond- sorry for the confusion.

atacarnet.com has been very helpful and is my main source for info. It’s just that they don’t mention when you get the money back.

It sounds like a couple of months from your experience.

We will definitely be registering our gear with customs- probably more important than the Carnet!

I think the Sony may be able to play 720p30 out of its analog connections but not over firewire. This is the case with all the Sony HDV decks anyway.

Do you know if the Sony’s have a clip on the back? I tried to look at the pictures but couldn’t find a shot of the back.

After searching around I found two recorders:

Sony MZ-RH1 and MZ-M200

I need the clip because this is for ENG stuff, interviews etc.
