Wow, that’s pretty huge. Especially if it can do this with h.264. I’m going to try this out.

It’s been a long time since your post so maybe you’ve worked it out already but it should work fine as I’ve been running Sapphire 6 all the way through CC 2015.

Now the major issue is that El Capitan has broken Sapphire 6 and Genarts is not going to fix it. It requires an upgrade.

I have an almost identical setup as Scott (MacPro 6 Core) and have the same issues. I would expect AVCHD to bonk but I still have playback issues with ProRes.

Truth be told I have not heard anyone, on any forum, anywhere, actually state that they have a smooth editing experience with Resolve thus far.

Joseph and John- are you guys actually able to edit smoothly or do you not really delve into editing that much?

And that goes to everyone- can you actually start and finish an edit? What’s your rig?

    Do tell!

I’ve been playing around with it too (resolve 11.1). I still get flaky playback working with ProRes on the NLE (MacPro 6 core 3.33).

I hope it gets smoother in the next revision because I really, really, really, like what I see. I especially like the audio key framing and gain adjustments.

Well that pretty much sums it up then.

Headline: “Resolve’s NLE Not ready for primetime yet.”

  • Thanks guys.

    Add H.264 to “Smart Render”.

  • Alex, does Andre Agassi know you are using his avatar? :=)

  • Sometimes I miss that software from the past.

Not sure if this is what you mean but…

You can lasso your clip (make sure audio and video is selected) just hit option up or down. The audio and video moves up or down as long as nothing is colliding. I can’t remember if Premiere CC has this as it’s default setting but you can change it in Keyboard prefs.

    Hope this helps!

BTW- Vince, that is one badass looking avatar.

Also- I made the switch to Premiere CC about 2 months ago. It’s version 7.1 that really nailed it for me. They didn’t have “Add Edit” straightened out until then. Now it’s pretty much FCP 8. The interface is so malleable – I’m loving it.

    Hi Lain,

You are referring to “Sapphire Edge” which is not even close to the full Sapphire suite. $400 vs $2400. It’s just a bunch of barely customizable quick pre-sets.

I asked GenArts if they plan on supporting X with the full suite and they basically said no current plans.
