Are all the machines using the same version of OSX and drivers, etc?
Next thing would be to try yet another machine, once you have exhausted the routes that Peter suggested in his post.
Have you tried opening it with no other machines connected to the Xraid?

February 20, 2006 at 3:46 pm in reply to: Why does the DVD play back on a widescreen TV like it is sqwooshed? It’s a problem with the DVD build. Anamorphic DVD’s are encoded to ‘tell’ the tv set to switch them to anamorphic, broadcasts do the same trick. Use you tv menu and select 16.9. Remember 16.9 and 4.3 are the same number of pixels it’s just about how they are displayed.

It’s not quite that simple, that setting didnt work with anamorphic footage for me. After trial and error and speaking to the apple genuis bar, I was advised to use compressor with a QT ref from FCP, and that way you can set anamorphic and ratios ets. I used 320×180 Mpeg 4 for CD.

Decklink cards by blackmagic are much cheaper as an alternative to aja, and the owner of blackmagic used to be at aja so the design ethos is not disimilar!
Camera capture possible, but do you really want to use a camera to capture considering the huge number of hours you will add to it?

Did you by any chance select to use quicktime as the default option for these file types? Maybe that has upset it.
In terms of the reconnect, are you doing it manually, and unchecking the match exact name only box?

Hi
There are two sides to this, firstly why are you having to render? Are you sure you should be rendering, or should you be using these files in a different type of project? With regards to the render, firstly check the HD you are trying to export to, is there enough space? Secondly are you exceeding the 2gb file limit option? Thirdly try rendering it in sections to see if this helps?

Not much help but, it clearly has a problem with codecs, being unable to display the requested material. Have you tried different projects or re installing avid????

February 17, 2006 at 7:33 pm in reply to: 1:1 Resolution pointless for footage from Mini-DV?In my tests using older MCs and Adrenalines with and without firewire respectively, 2.1 is fine for dv. You really will not notice the difference even on a grade 1 monitor. The only benefit is that if your old avid wont allow you to mix resolutions in the same timeline 1.1 will be better of course for all of your titles and rendering. My personal view is that it should all depend upon the output format. DV is supposed to be around 5.1 compression but, seeing as you are having to go through a DA to capture then there is no harm going a bit above that, but there is a point where it just doesnt make a difference. Besides if you are going back to DV you will never notice the fact that you edited in 1.1.

It is indeed there, and also helps you see a preview verison of your title in avid title tool

How about a video mix down or exporting a quicktime with avid codec then re import into new timeline.
