G5 / Capture Digi / HDCam
I have an Apple G5 with Final Cut Studio HD. I am looking for recommendations for the following:-
I want to be able to capture Digibeta and HDCam tapes (specifically from Sony 790’s and Sony 750’s).
I know I will need raid etc for capacity etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Also is it possible to capture direct from camera’s as well as from Decks (eg J30’s)

Yes, you will need a capture card. Kona LH does SDI and component…HD and SD. And capturing from the cameras is NOT recommended. Decks only.

Decklink cards by blackmagic are much cheaper as an alternative to aja, and the owner of blackmagic used to be at aja so the design ethos is not disimilar!
Camera capture possible, but do you really want to use a camera to capture considering the huge number of hours you will add to it?
