i understand its a first version. you might say that apple has some experience as it comes to developing editing software.
But if you launch a first version that makes a simple audio cross in about seven steps you make one thing painfully clear.Jou abandon the profesional users! You cant tell me apple doesn’t know that.They know what a pro editor needsby now.If basic editing is a problem how can jou call this Imovie pro a stepp forward. It is a leap back for profesionals. We don’t care about a macnatic timeline we care about switching it off.When you have to switch a lot of “cool”stuff off it takes a lot of keystrokes and a lot of time.Time you don’t have.
Not for a hobbyist they love it! They love to be helped but if you want to create something you heve to have freedom not a macnatic timeline that ordens stuff for you! Totally Pathetic!
“Everything just changed in post” pro’s will leave Apple.

I have red your replies and i think you expect different stuf from a professional edit system.
If you have to use about seven commands to make a simple AUDIO CROSS (it doesn’t get any more basic then that) i would have say two things. 1:Seven keystrokes to make an audio only cross thats a workaround in my book. 2: this app is not ment for proffesionals.
Worst of all when you’ve applied the cross it shortens your audio at the end.The cross is a couple of secconds before the video edit! To correct this you can add some more commands!
In my opinion apple has abandoned the proffesionals for shure.
It is simply not possible that apple after all these years of edit research,development and feedback doesn’t exactly now what editors require! They are dissing us.

Thanks for your answers but the blackmagic doesn’t do what i ask. The matrox seems to be spot on but is a little over budget. i need to know if the elgato hd shows up in your fcp export window. and i mean especialy the custom settings( i know the presets do but they are useless to me). If the custom settings are choosable directly from fcp’s exportmenu the elgato is an option for me. If not i need to export a qtmovie first (15 minutes) and than drag it into elgato’s window. This detour compromises the speed advantage. So does anyone know if your custom settings of th elgat turbo H264 HD show up in fcp7’s exportsettings. thanx jur

Thanks for all the response guys!you have again been of great help. this is either a to difficult question or nowbody care’s about it.The good thing is…i think i came up with an answer. I don’t know if it is the smartest way to do it but i am shure you folks will correct me at once…ha ha ha. Well i’v dropped all my clips(or the bins with the clips in it) in a timeline then i made a quicktime movie of it and inported that into the browser. You can now laod this clip into the vieuwer and edit. Now you can spot a if you were spotting a tape( one long clip) so that you can mutch better keep track of the chain of events. in my case a marathon.
I hope i made somebody happy.

I checked up on the ExpressCards but i stumbeled on a lot mails of people having problems with them.i think the are quite expensive as well (thanx Apple for taking away the fw400). Do you know of a card that works flawlesly and supports hd imx and hdv? on a recent MBP?

So the signal that comes out of the sdi output,can it be recorded on a xdcam deck or a harddisc or even back to the sony 530 xd cam? What “format” or “codec” is this signal anyway.

Can the open fcp sequence also be played straight on to a plasma tv using dvi out i suppose?
