xd cam to h264 slow
hi currently i am shooting on a sony 530 xdcam using imx 30(dutch sport broadcast norm).
i need to export to h264 to send it to a tv broadcast station via ftp. i could compress it to mpeg2 but h264 looks nicer. the problem is it takes too much time. for half an hour it takes me 55 minutes! is there a better workflow on a sony 530 using fcp making h264.i’v tried to use turbo264 from el gato but only it’s presets showed up in fcp’s export window. i made a better quality preset but then i must first make a qt movie and then i can use my elgato turbo presetnd by then the turbo is stil a litte faster but not worth the fuzz anymore! is there a solution. -

there are also the Matrox MAX products see ad link on side or

both are for file base encoding.

Thanks for your answers but the blackmagic doesn’t do what i ask. The matrox seems to be spot on but is a little over budget. i need to know if the elgato hd shows up in your fcp export window. and i mean especialy the custom settings( i know the presets do but they are useless to me). If the custom settings are choosable directly from fcp’s exportmenu the elgato is an option for me. If not i need to export a qtmovie first (15 minutes) and than drag it into elgato’s window. This detour compromises the speed advantage. So does anyone know if your custom settings of th elgat turbo H264 HD show up in fcp7’s exportsettings. thanx jur

it doesn’t looks much customizable. Even what its shows as “Custom Profiles” seems just another preset.
I guess that is the way to make those USB processors cheap and fast working.
