Yes. By definition a 720P (as in Progressive) signal cannot be interlaced.

That said what usually happens in cross conversion is each 1/59.94th field is scaled to it’s own 1/59.94th frame in the 720P image. Combine both fields by quickly showing one frame after the other and you get a fluid looking image, like a 60i image. However each individual frame would have to be a progressive image. As that is what the format requires.

So to answer your question, any device properly converting to 720P is deinterlacing.

I don’t know what the value proposition is that makes you want to upgrade a working system. But for what it’s worth 8.2.2 is supposed to be Mountain Lion compatible.

Unfortunately, I think edl and a 10bit qt are your best bet. No round trip that I’m aware of work.

I don’t believe resolve projects are backward compatible, but just have them update. Resolve updates are free.

Yes. If they are full resolve licenses they can use a shared database for projects. However this doesn’t work on resolve light.

There are ways to do it. But only licensed apps right now are turnkey solutions (cinedeck). Other systems use reverse engineered prores codec through ffmpeg.

If you want to take it that way. Yes.

The word leading in that context is clearly marketing speak. How is it leading? Highest selling (maybe)? First to market(possibly)? Best price point ( certainly)? Best feature set (arguably)? Best quality?

Quality was the original posters question.., and I’m afraid as amazing a value as the teranex represents, it isn’t leading in that particular metric.
