“moving into cs6 with speedgrade just for the ability to push the project into AE for any additional changes with ease”

Have you used speedgrade at all? Not much is getting in there with ease. More like brute force dpx sequences. 😉

off topic would an unrelated question about Resolve. This is in the wrong forum.

I don’t know anything about lightwave unfortunately. I would post in the lightwave forum if I were you. That is if you were addressing your question to me and not Robert Cauble.

    BTW, link to lightwave forum.

Unless you really need the resolution, you’re going to be much happier with 2k. 4k isn’t twice the data, it’s four times the data, four times the processing, four times the hassle. So unless you really need it, save yourself a headache. One thing you might be better off doing though is using the r3d. Adjusting the camera metadata can often help you save so something that might have been lost.

[Todd Jaspers] ” Does v9 erase or overwrite anything that would make the stable 8.2.2 version un useable”

    Yes.

[Todd Jaspers] “Can I install v9 and still have 8.2.2 working perfectly?”

    No.

You need to uninstall one and reinstall the other if you want to switch.

    Option-M for dynamic
    Apple-M for static.

The keyboard shortcuts are shown in the menu BTW.

Sounds like a difference in the chroma resampleing. ProRes HQ is 422… Resolve processes in 4:4:4 RGB… so the chroma has to be converted and resampled to 4:4:4.. qt is doing a bit of chroma smoothing which resolve is not. Interesting.

Are you comparing a screen shot from the GUI of Resolve to screen shot from the GUI of QuickTime player? You should render out the shot then compare them both in the same app. THink you’ll find the issue isn’t there. THis is one of the reasons why we don’t use the gui to evaluate an image.

  • I think most of the new keyboard shortcuts make sense when you think about them. Much easier to remember.

  • Reset the current node is Shift + [Home key] (as in take all your adjustments back to the home position).
